Keeping Your Word

5th June 2011

Today has been one of those days, filled with disappointment and a broken promise. A friend promised to do something for me and let me down over a big issue. What should be my reaction? Well, my first reaction when I got home was to cry and then feel really let down, annoyed and disappointed.

But Jesus knows that people will let us down, after all they are human too. Everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God. It's so easy to believe this, but when you are feeling hurt it's hard. I guess when people let us down we just have to pray and ask God to help us to shine for Him.

It got me to thinking; our reaction in trying situations is the key. Do people see Jesus in us when people let us down or do we react like non-Christians? What would Jesus do in our situation?

"Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us." (1 Peter 2:12)

What a challenge! We cannot do this on our own but only with the help of God. Help us please Lord to trust in you when people let us down.

"May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight. O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)
