How I met my Husband
1st May 2012
I have received many e-mails asking for advice from single Christians and asking about my own experience. This blog includes my story!
When I was younger and single, I imagined that suddenly one day the Christian man of my dreams would appear in my life. He would knock on my door and I would know instantly that he was the man I would marry. But in reality that never happened and as my Christian friends all one by one got married, I was left to ponder whether God would ever provide me with a husband. I was happy with my life being single but at the same time I did desire a husband.
There were no single Christian men my age in my church and that's when I decided that I would join a Christian dating website. I was apprehensive about doing so but prayed that God would guide me (Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6) I felt like I needed to make the effort to meet Christian men and I prayed that God would guide me to the right man if it was His will and that he would help me to guard my heart and that no matter what happened I would grow closer in my walk with Jesus.
My husband was the third person I met up with via the website and now we have been happily married for 5 years and have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy. God used the website for us to meet. I believe my time before that when I was single, was a time of preparation for marriage and also a time when I could focus solely on growing in my relationship with God.
A Christian dating site worked for me but there are other ways to meet single Christians if you are seeking a husband. There are many single Christian groups you can join, Christian holidays you can go on, there are even Christian speed dating available now - I wish that had been around when I was single as I think it sounds fun!
Well that's my story. I pray for you whether you are single or married that God will bless you as you walk the path that he has for your life.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
